Letters to the editor

Given that 57 other municipalities in BC have added their names to the list of communities, along with that of the UBCM, asking the BC Government to place a moratorium on Smart Meters until that technology can be proven to be safe - which has never been done, anywhere - why has Kelowna's name not been added to that list?

Was the City's/your decision influenced in any way by the fact:

• previously, you were a member of one of then Premier Gordon Campbell's "special advisory committees" (remembering that it was his government that legislated Smart Meters on every home in BC)?
• previously, you were on Fortis' Board of Directors (and it is they who plan to bring in Smart Meters)?
• previously, you were on Gordon Campbell's BC Transit Board of Directors?
• previously, you were on Gordon Campbell's BC Lottery Corp.'s Board of Directors?
• You, as Mayor, are now spearheading the sale of Kelowna's one-third-owned electric utility to Fortis BC, the proceeds of which the City of Kelowna plans to re-invest back into Fortis BC?

Candid, unambiguous answers would be appreciated. The citizens of Kelowna have a right to know the truth. Thank you
