Downtown shops strut their stuff
Businesses in downtown Kelowna will get a chance to show off what they do best during the third 'Small Shop Saturday.'
The event, hosted by the Downtown Kelowna Association, encompasses businesses throughout the downtown core.
"Of course, the downtown is Ellis, Pandosy, Water and a lot of those businesses on those streets are participating," says DKA Communications Manager, Ryan Watters.
"It's a whole downtown event, it's not just Bernard Avenue."
Watters, says participation among downtown businesses has increased steadily over the course of the first two 'Small Shop Saturday' events.
"It's nice to see. Our first one was 60 and now we are close to 100. It's moving up very nicely," says Watters.
Unlike other downtown events where businesses moved out onto the sidewalks and bands and street performers were featured, 'Small Shop Saturday' is designed to promote shopping downtown and buying local.
Merchants are encouraged to show what they do best.
"And, there will be great savings."
Parking downtown is also free throughout 'Small Shop Saturday.'
Watters says on-street parking and the parkades are both free for the day although the two hour on-street restrictions will be enforced.
