After losing out on two public venues, the Okanagan Film Festival International will go underground - sort of.

Festival organizer, Jeremy Heynen Told Castanet Thursday the film festival will go ahead, at an unspecified location.

Heynen says the films originally scheduled to be screen will be shown.

Those in attendance will be filmmakers, their families and invited guests.

The festival will not be open to the general public.

"There's been a lot of great people in the community who have sent emails saying they fully support the festival and they would love to do anything to help. For the people that have done that and I have been in contact with, they will get special invites," says Heynen.

"The films will speak for themselves and I hope after that the people who got in on the private screenings will go out and brag and tell the rest of the people those were amazing."

Heynen had hoped to put on the festival at the Paramount Theatre, however, parent company Landmark Cinemas pulled the pin after learning the line-up of the films.

He also had an offer from Theatre 26 at UBC Okanagan, but that fell through because of timing.

The film festival was scheduled to begin todday (Thursday).
