Kelowna City Park and the downtown area was full of activity early Sunday morning as the hundreds of competitors in the BMO Okanagan Marathon arrived for the day's events.

Many of the runners described the conditions as perfect.

The athletes left the starting gate under sunny skies and a reported temperature of 1 Celsius at 7:15 a.m.

The top runners should be finished around 10:00 a.m.

The Half Marathon got underway half an hour later followed by the 10 kilometre race at 8:15.

Motorists can expect delays and detours Sunday morning during the race.
