Rookie Rourke Chartier scored twice and Myles Bell had a four point night as the Kelowna Rockets hung on to get by the Prince George Cougars 7-5.

The win allowed the Rockets to earn a split of their weekend set in Prince George.

The Rockets built up a 5-2 lead early in the third period but a pair of goals less than a minute apart allowed the Cougars to pull to within one.

The teams traded goals before Damon Severson's power-play goal midway through the third closed out the scoring.

Bell had a goal and three assists for the Rockets while Chartier had an assist to go along with the first two goal night of his WHL career.

Dylen McKinley, Zach Franko and Jesse Lees also scored for the Rockets.

Colton Sissons added three assists giving him 10 points (3g 7a) in his last four games.

Jordon Cooke went the distance for the Rockets despite allowing five goals on 27 shots including four on just 16 shots over the first 40 minutes.

The Rockets outshot the Cougars 36-27 on the night.

The win, the Rockets third in four outings, improves their record to 3-3-1-0.

They return home to host the US Division leading Spokane Chiefs Wednesday before hitting the once again for a pair of games next weekend in Victoria.
