Kamloops bomb scare
Police, Fire and Ambulance staff all converged into the 1700 block of East Trans Canada Highway about 2:15 p.m. today (Wednesday) after an anonymous call was placed to a restaurant in the area indicating that an explosive device had been placed there and was going to detonate in 15 minutes.
The restaurant was evacuated as were the immediate surrounding businesses.
The area was cordoned off to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
Fire and ambulance resources were staged in a nearby parking lot as police conducted a preliminary search of the building and interviewed witnesses in the area.
Eleven police officers responded to the call and maintained a security perimeter around the area until a police bomb dog attended to conduct a more detailed search.
The all clear was given just before 3:30 p.m.
The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Anyone with information about this false bomb call is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP or Crimestoppers.
