Update: Shuswap fire under control
Update 3:15 p.m. - The Columbia Shuswap Regional District Fire Services Coordinator has reported that the wildfire located in the Sunnybrae area is now under control.
Sunnybrae-Canoe Point Road has been opened to single lane, alternating traffic which will remain in effect for two to three hours. Please expect delays.

A fire measuring approximately three acres is burning on the Little Shuswap Indian Band land located along Sunnybrae-Canoe Pt. Rd. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
It is reported that there are no residents or structures in immediate danger.
Three Fire Departments are in attendance and are working to contain the fire along Sunnybrae-Canoe Pt. Rd.
The Wildfire Management Initial Attack crew are fighting the fire along the North side and are receiving aerial assistance with one helicopter.
Sunnybrae-Canoe Point Road is closed in both directions as crews fight the fire.
Residents urgently requiring access or egress from the area can travel through an alternative route along Mobley Rd. and Ford Rd. which has been temporarily opened.
The Shuswap Emergency Program will continue to monitor the event and provide up-to-date information as it is received.
