It looks as though the Okanagan will be a hotbed of world class curling this winter.

While Penticton gets set to host the Continental Cup of Curling held at the South Okanagan Events centre January 10 to 13, it appears Kelowna will also get a big time event.

A news conference is scheduled for Prospera Place next Monday where it is expected the 6,000 seat arena will be announced as one of the sites for the Grand Slam of Curling.

The Grand Slam of Curling, which features the top men's and women's teams in the world, is part of the World Curling Tour.

A media release sent out Thursday afternoon says in part:

RG Properties , Prospera Place, and Rogers Sportsnet have recently signed an agreement and will be hosting an exciting 5 day event inside Prospera Place.

Rogers Sportsnet recently purchased the rights to operate the event from Insight Sports. Sportsnet and CBC will share broadcast rights.

While specific details will not be released until Monday. Prospera Place is available the week of December 10 or 17 while the WHL's Kelowna Rockets are on their extended prairie road trip.
