Two people were sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries as a result of a pair of motorcycle crashes over the past few days.

Cst. Kris Clark says the first crash occurred shortly before 8 p.m. Friday at the corner of Ellis and Leon in downtown Kelowna.

"According to witnesses, a red Chrysler Cirrus was waiting to turn left onto Leon from Ellis while a northbound motorcycle was going straight through," says Clark.

"Apparently, the Chrysler turned in front of the motorcycle which in turn impacted the Chrysler on its passenger side."

Clark says the 57-year-old rider was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

The 56-year-old female driver of the vehicle was fined $167 for failure to yield.

About 4:30 p.m. Saturday, a 27-year-old Edmonton man lost control of his Ducati travelling northbound on Highway 97 near Nancee Way.

Clark says the man was ejected from his bike after striking a median.

He was thrown into a ditch between the northbound and southbound lanes.

The motorcycle continued down the highway for about 100 metres before coming to a stop.

Clark says the man suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Clark says speed is believed to have been a factor. No charges have yet been laid.
