If you caught last week’s column, you know about the great news on Led Zepplin, however it just gets better!  Entitled ‘Celebration Day’, the video document of the group’s 2007 ’02 re-union concert is two hours plus, and will be released as a theatre release in early October!  We don’t have to wait for November to see it!  October 17th is the worldwide release in theatres, with a month later for the DVD/CD release, which will contain some surprise bonus material.

A West Coast icon, the Canadian/American group that modelled themselves after Led Zepplin, (in the early days), are about to release a brand new album!  ‘Heart’ will be releasing a collection of music that harkens back to their early years…”Fanatic” is the name, and expect some great things from this effort!  Here is a sneak peek!

Of course, if you read last week, you know that Night Ranger will be accompanying both Journey and Loverboy on the Rock N’ Roll Revival concert in Kelowna.  But did you know that the group are celebrating their thirtieth anniversary of the release of their debut, “Dawn Patrol”?  Thirty years in this business and still being successful is a milestone and a half!  In celebration, the group decided to put on an acoustic show somewhere in California, with an invited audience and have released it as a DVD/CD package.  Here’s a Review:

Night Ranger “24 Strings And A Drummer—Live & Acoustic”
         Frontiers Records

Review by: Bruce E.J. Atkinson

One can always tell when a group of musicians are a confident bunch when they strip down their electrified music creations to that of the bare essentials and voices.  And that is what ‘Night Ranger’ has done!  What with just guitars/barest of drums, and all their vocal ability, this group put on an amazing performance.
After thirty years in the business—these lads should be confident!—and it shows!  This new release was recorded just a few months back, live and off the floor—with only acoustic guitars and the bare essentials in the drum department, new life has been breathed into these classic numbers by the perfect harmony of the combined voices of Night Ranger.  A beautifully packaged CD/DVD set, you, too, can be part of the select members of the audience—with this specially invited concert performance!  Captured live somewhere in California, Night Ranger celebrates thirty years of creating some of the best AOR around!...and now we can celebrate with them!
