Evacuation made easier

To the editor:

We were one of the many households in Peachland that were evacuated last Sunday evening.

What would normally be a stressful event was made easier by the assistance we received at the Westbank Lions Club by the Emergency Shelter Services.

The people there were very helpful and it wasn't long before we were on our way to our hotel.  The only question I have is that no identification was requested.

Also, the amount of fire fighting personnel and equipment was very impressive and they did an excellent job coping with the high winds that could have carried the fire towards more homes.

We greatly appreciate all the assistance we were given, and impressed with everyone's professionalism.
