Update: 1 p.m. Hwy. 1 near Chase is now open in both directions.

Update: 7:45 a.m. - Hwy. 1 is reduced to single lane alternating traffic.

Drive BC reports that an accident has closed Highway 1 in both directions near Chase.

The accident occurred before 6 a.m. 10 km east of Chase.

Alternate route available via Highway 97 from Monte Creek to Vernon and Highway 97A from Vernon to Sicamous.

Estimated time of opening currently not available; an assessment is in progress.
