Forest fire: Report of buildings on fire
Here is a raw video by David Cooper - listen to the wind as it hits David's phone.
5:20 Update: We have reports that at least two out-buildings are burning near Dryden and Smith. Peachland FIre Chief Grant Topham says no homes are on fire. RCMP are closing the area down, and they are asking everyone to stay away. There will be some closures to Hwy. 97 in Peachland, Hwy. 97C is still open.
A forest fire above Peachland is being worked on by air and ground crews.
A helicopter is bucketing the hot spots while ground crews try and stop it from spreading.
Strong winds are adding to the problem. A plume of smoke can be seen rising above Okanagan Lake.
There are reports that some people have been evacuated.
The fire is on the south side of Hwy. 97C, just west of the tourist information booth. It is burning in brush and trees.
We have a reporter on location and we will have more details as they become available.
