Free parking would help

To the editor:

Re: Bernard Ave closure.

With the closing of streets for upgrading etc., I would think that the city should offer free parking downtown which may entice shoppers to visit affected merchants.

It will be a loss to city coffers but I'm sure they can absorb this for a period of time.
