Perp unsuccessful in grabbing teen
Mounties in Summerland are on the lookout for a man who assaulted and attempted to abduct a teenage girl last Friday.
About 2 p.m. August 17, police say a 13-year-old girl was walking westbound on a trail near Victoria Road North and Julia Street.
The girl says a man grabbed her hand from behind and when she attempted to pull away, he slapped her once in the face.
She screamed and the man ran away heading east on the trail.
The man is described as:
- Aboriginal
- 30 to 40 years of age
- 6' tall
- Approximatly 175 pounds.
- With scaring or pockmarks over his entire facial region.
He was wearing a black sweater, black cotton pants and runners.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Summerland RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
