Charges have now been laid against a 31-year-old Penticton man following an incident last month which left a second man in hospital with stab wounds to the chest.

Joshua Rex Mason has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Breach of Probation after he allegedly stabbed Clayton Raymond Bonthoux, 39, during an argument July 27.

Police say two men had been involved in an argument that evening -- one man left, returned later with a third male and the argument continued.

Bonthoux was stabbed in the chest and neck area during the ensuing argument.

He was treated at the scene and transported to hospital in Penticton and later to Kelowna General Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Bonthoux is currently in intensive care but is expected to make a full recovery.

Mason was later arrested in front of his residence about an hour after the incident.

A third male, an unidentified 40-year-old Penticton resident, was also implicated in the assault and was arrested at the scene.

He has been released on a Promise To Appear on charges of Possession of a Weapon.

All three men are well known to police.
