Body of paddleboarder recovered
The body of a 73-year-old Oregon man was recovered from Okanagan Lake Wednesday morning.
He was reported missing about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Finch Road area near the Kelowna/Lake Country boundary.
According to police the man was in town visiting family. He arrived in the Okanagan Sunday.
"At approximately 7:30 p.m. Monday the man took a paddleboard out onto the lake but didn't return," says Cst. Kris Clark.
"Unfortunately, he wasn't noticed to be missing until the following night. By all accounts the man was a strong swimmer, experienced paddleboarder and in apparent good physical health."
Clark says initial searches were unsuccessful.
At about 8:30 Wednesday morning police were notified that a body and a paddleboard had been located in the lake in the area of Finch Road.
Clark says the body has been confirmed to be that of the 73-year-old man.
His family has been notified.
