Local podcast covers Canadian talent

As the owner of a local recording studio, Michael Pedersen is no stranger to the wealth of talent that Canadian musicians have to offer. That means he is also no stranger to watching talented artists go un-noticed and under-appreciated in this age of mega-stars and mega-budgets.
Couple that with a growing appetite for home-grown, independently produced music, and the Music City Podcast is born.
The Music City Podcast was developed out of a desire to connect the music created by up and coming artists right here in Canada to listeners looking for their own piece of Canadian culture. Produced by Michael Pedersen of Kelowna’s Music City Studio and hosted by acoustic singer-songwriter Dan Oig and music columnist Vincent Jones, the Music City Podcast is already garnering attention.
Named to iTunes’ “New and Noteworthy” list since the first episode’s release on June 13, 2012, this weekly podcast is a compilation of music from all genres and levels of notoriety. Downloads have doubled from episode to episode and interested sponsors are stepping up to be a part of this fresh new project.
The Music City Podcast is a collaborative effort, with artists and fans able to submit suggestions for content directly to Michael.
If you’re new to podcasts, a podcast is similar to a radio show except that you can listen to exactly what you want at anytime. Many people use iTunes to download and listen to podcasts, although many websites allow you to stream podcasts to your computer or portable audio device. In general, podcasts are free and there are an incredible number to choose from on nearly any topic you can imagine.
If you’re interested in having some awesome Canadian music delivered directly to your ears FOR FREE on a weekly basis, check out the Music City Podcast on iTunes. The Music City Podcast is recorded weekly at Music City Studio in Kelowna.
