Collective Soul to Shine on Penticton
Jul 20, 2012 / 7:00 am
Eight Albums and almost twenty years on, Collective Soul are still a source of musical innovation. From their mega-hit “Shine” in 1993 to their recent influential number, “Tremble For My Beloved”, the band still sounds fresh and valid.
The group hails from Atlanta Georgia, and are the epitome of Hard Melodic Rock. Guitar driven numbers that have reflective and poignant lyrics, generated mostly by Ed Roland, this quartet just keeps rolling. Collective Soul are currently on a North American tour, and will touch down in Penticton later this month at Rock The Peach Music Festival.
Although we haven’t seen a new album since 2009, one is in the works, and no doubt, we will hear some new numbers when this foursome hit the stage on July 27th! Speaking of ‘on stage’, “Collective Soul’ Home-with The Atlanta Youth Orchestra”, a DVD release from 2006 is a living testament of the Masterful Music this group creates, and a document worth having.

Now, speaking of Penticton, local musical Artists the “Steve Jones Band” will be appearing at the ‘Party In the Park’ in West Kelowna on Friday July 20th. The group performs as a trio and a five piece, and on Friday it will be the trio that will rock the stage.
The group consists of Blair Kennedy, Steve Jones and Bob Gronowski. Lead vocalist and guitarist, Steve Jones is a Canadian West Coast musician now residing in Penticton. He is a very talented Singer/songwriter, and performs his Works with “The Steve Jones Band”. At Memorial Park he will be accompanied by Blair Kennedy, guitarist, whom has played in numerous bands including touring with Joe Cocker. Bassist Bob Gronowski, will also be there…originally from the Motor City, Bob has played with Terry Edmunds and Robbie King, just naming a couple.
Collectively, these three veterans will bring a powerful edge to the Friday night “Party In The Park” in West Kelowna. I’ll have a full story on the “Steve Jones Band” in weeks to come, so stay tuned!
