Park the parking complaints

To the editor:

Re: KGH staff hog on street parking

First off, don't go blaming the employees for the parking.

When this project was first discussed, parking would have been a key component. The real question or blame should be directed to the planners and permit issuers and I am quite sure that the nurses has zero say in it.

Prior to the start of this project, the planners should have started purchasing some of the adjacent lots and homes for sufficient parking .

I don't think that there is a single person in Kelowna that wouldn't agree with the need for more parking. I recall a time when parking was free at hospitals.

If you don't like KGH or it's staff, I suggest you go to Vancouver where I  once waited 8 hours in an emergency room after being brought in by ambulance due to a car accident that almost killed me.

Another incident on the coast that makes me appreciate KGH was when I took my four year-old daughter to a suburb Emergency with a gaping wound to her face that required stitches.

After waiting four hours and watching drug addict after drug addict being attended to for withdrawal symptoms, we were finally told that it would be faster if we went to another clinic for treatment, so we carried my blood soaked daughter to the Clinic and received immediate attention .

I have been to KGH more times than I would prefer, but every time the nurses have been far better than the Coast.

The Nurses at KGH are great, don't blame them, blame the morons that planned and developed the site and passed everything .
