RCMP FILE: 2012-36412

Emergency Health Services and West Kelowna RCMP were called to assist the victims of an attempted robbery with bear spray just after 9:00 PM on Friday, July 13, 2012. A couple were alone on a small beach at the south end of Gellatly Road and were approached by two teenage males who demanded their money, wallets, cell phones and back pack. When the victims refused and tried to run for their car a tanned white man wearing a purple shirt and shorts bear sprayed the male victim. The second male suspect, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans, had a knife in his hand. The suspects fled north on Gellatly Road, empty-handed.

CRIME: FUEL THEFTS

DATE: July 16, 2012

RCMP FILE: 2012-37048, 37149

Residents of West Kelowna should be on the watch for suspects syphoning fuel from vehicles. There have been at least two instances of fuel thefts reported in the last week. The first occurred on July 16 when the owner of a red Ford truck on the 1600 block of Ross Road noticed missing fuel and traces of fuel dripping down the side of the vehicle. The second occurrence was reported the next day where a complainant had a vehicle parked in a compound on the 1100 block of Stevens Road. A jerry can and hoses were found by the gas tank. It seems that the thief had been interrupted and scared off, leaving his equipment behind.

You can help catch these suspects and qualify for a reward by calling Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tips line at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), visit our website at www.crimestoppers.net or text to CRIMES (274637), keyword Ktown.
