Riders from the Okanagan claimed three of the top four spots during Saturday's RBC GranFondo Kelowna bike race.

765 riders began the ride from Waterfront Park in Kelowna and all but two completed the 122 kilometre course which ventured through Lake Country and Vernon, before turning around and heading back to Waterfront Park.

Peachland's Evan Guthrie posted the day's fasted time, crossing the finish line with a time of three hours 27 minutes 49.2 seconds, edging out Vancouver's Larry Zimich by just half a second.

Vernon's Matt Hewitt was next at 3:27:49.9 and then Kelowna's Peter Watson at 3:27:50.2, as the top four riders finished within one second of each other.

Among the women riders, Kelowna's Jennifer Schulz posted the best time, after completing the course in 3:38:08.1. She was among four Kelowna riders in the top 10.

Tannile Stickley placed sixth followed closely by Monica Nelson and Malindi Elmore.
