10:45 p.m. Update: A 22 year old Kelowna man was killed in a two vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a two vehicle collision on KLO Rd in front of the Okanagan College campus. A westbound Suzuki motorcycle was traveling in the left hand lane of KLO Rd. A VW Cabriolet made a left turn from the campus parking lot to go eastbound on KLO Rd.

The Suzuki went into a skid and the motorcycle was laid down prior to impact with the VW. The male driver of the motorcycle sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Kelowna General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Speed appears to be a factor in this collision. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor. The investigation continues and it is unknown if any charges will be recommended.

A motorcycle rider is in Kelowna General Hospital with unspecified, life-threatening injuries following a horrific crash on KLO, in front of Okanagan College.

The crash occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

"It's a very serious crash scene at this time. We're investigating a motorcycle that crashed into the side of a car," says RCMP Cst. Lise Marion.

"Right now it's indicating the motorcycle may have been speeding."

A witness to the crash, who asked not to be identified, says she was stopped next to the motorcycle at the stoplight at KLO and Gordon Drive.

"He was revving it a bit at the intersection. The light turned green and as soon as he got through the intersection he started weaving in and out of traffic and he was going fast," says the witness.

The motorcycle slammed into the driver's side door of a Volkswagon Cabriolet that was attempting to make a left hand turn out of the college parking lot onto KLO. A huge impact dent could be seen on the door panel of the Cabriolet.

"All I saw was the bike explode and, it literally exploded," added the witness.
