Vehicle crashes down embankment

A Castanet viewer reports that a vehicle failed to negotiate a curve on Spiers Road and plunged more than 100 feet down an embankment.

The witness says it happened around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 30th, and that the tight corners proved to be an eye opener for the driver.

Pictures show emergency crews had to use safety ropes to descend into the ravine.

The vehicle came to stop on all four wheels and appears to be heavily damaged.

The witness says around 10 rescue personnel were involved in the rescue and the condition of the driver was unknown.
