Kickstarting The Culture High
Jun 26, 2012 / 5:00 pm
Last week, local filmmaker Adam Scorgie began a huge fundraising campaign for the upcoming sequel to The Union: The Business Behind Getting High.
The film is called The Culture High, and with your help, this film can see international distribution and can build upon the success of The Union.
Great news for Adam and the campaign: he’s been invited by Joe Rogan as a special guest on Friday’s episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. Here’s the link if you’d like to listen: Joe Rogan Experience Podcast
To date, the film’s Kickstarter campaign has already raised over $42,000 of the $190,000 goal. You can find out more about the film and its Kickstarter campaign below.
But first, a short movie about the film:
******
Hello everyone, Adam Scorgie here, joining forces with BKS-Crew once again, the team that brought you “The Union: The Business Behind Getting High” we have also added the talents Aquila productions, to bring you the highly anticipated sequel to The Union.
Over the last 18 months we have been working tirelessly on this very ambitious project and we believe this film could be EVEN better than the original! The title for this sequel is “The Culture High”
Already The Culture High has Canadian broadcaster support fromSuperChannel & Hollywood Suites as well as a distribution deal with Phase 4 Films (Red State & Haywire). However, to get this film Green-Lit and into theatres we need to raise an additional $190,000, or the film will not get made.
WOW, $190,000 is a big number, but with YOUR support, we can totally do it.
It looks far more achievable if we consider the following: if we pre-sell 5400 DVD's we hit our goal and that represents only 15% of The Union Facebook fans. The best part is, YOU can help The Culture High come to life by simply pre-ordering a copy of this great film AND you could get your name listed in the credits of the film! What makes this even more exciting is the fact that a successful start on Kickstarter campaign will help us get The Culture High into theatres! That’s right, I said THEATRES!
We have worked out a deal with Phase 4 Films and D&E Entertainment to bring The Culture High to the big screen all across Canada, the U.S., Australia & possibly the UK. However, again, NONE of this will be possible unless we hit our goal of raising $190,000.00!
We have some amazing talent already agreeing to be interviewed, some of whom you will recognize from the Union, but many, many new faces along with a truck load of previously unattainable footage will also be presented in this entertaining and educational film. We are extremely excited about the opportunity to complete this film, as it will help educate the world on very important and controversial subject and do so in a very engaging fashion.
Your help in completing this project is sincerely appreciated and together we can make a film that will truly make a difference!
Thanks in advance for the support
Kind Regards
The Union Team
OUR GOAL FOR THE FILM
Simply put, we want to get the film out to as many people as possible. It is a film with a universal message, but Hollywood is telling us the audience doesn't want this kind of film on the big screen or a mainstream release, this is OUR chance to prove them WRONG!
ABOUT KICKSTARTER
Kickstarter is the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world. Every month tens of thousands of amazing people pledge millions of dollars to projects from the worlds of music, art, film, technology, design, food, and other creative fields. Every Kickstarter project must be fully funded before its time expires.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE DON’T REACH OUR GOAL
If we don't raise our goal, we don't get anything. Donors pledge the amounts, but don't actually pay until the goal is reached and the funding deadline has passed. We want to avoid this so please spread the word. Everything helps! When we meet our goal we will begin shooting the film and keeping everyone up to date about EVERYTHING along the way through our social media sites, so buckle, and follow us as we embark on this crazy journey together.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
This film is only going to be possible with the help of you (Union fans, independent film fans, and anyone who loves a positive, thought provoking film). We want this to be your film just as much as it is ours. The more people who participate the more chance we have of getting the story out. To help out please Twitter it, "Like" us on Facebook, email this Kickstarter link and let your friends, supporter groups, and co-workers know about the film and this campaign. We would love for people to get involved on a local level. Email Dena Details(denadetails@shaw.ca) to get more information and become involved.
