The Kelowna Falcons bats came alive for the second straight night at Elk Stadium

The difference Wednesday, the pitching staff also got the job done.

One night after pounding out 17 hits in dropping a heartbreaking 15-12 decision to the Walla Walla Sweets, the Falcons blasted Sweets pitching for a season high 31 hits in a 13-1 victory.

The Falcons, who had not hit a home run until this past weekend connected on two round trippers Wednesday giving them six homers in four games.

Kelowna native Ryan Stajduhar hit a two run blast in the fifth while newcomer Jerry McClanahan led off the eighth with a solo blast.

Stajduhar also had a sacrifice fly as he drove in three on the night.

Jace Conrad had a pair of hits and drove in a game high four on the night.

The Falcons jumped on the Sweets early scoring five times as they batted around during the second inning, They tacked on another three in the fourth to grab an 8-1 lead.

That was all the support starting pitcher Cord Cockrill would need.

Cockrill, pitching in place of an ill Brandon Marris, allowed just one run and four hits over 5.1 innings.

The Falcons (8-5) and Sweets (4-10) will play game three of this four game set on Thursday night at Elks Stadium, gates open at 5:30, first pitch at 6:35.

Thursday night is a special fundraiser as all gate admission will be donated to the BC Fire Fighters Burn Fund.
