Forest fire burns up a hill in Oliver.
The Oliver Fire Department is on the scene of a forest fire on McKinney Road.
The fire is burning just east of South Okanagan General Hospital.
Witnesses say the local team is getting the fire under control. The crews are also getting some help.
Fire crews from the Ministry of Forests based out of Penticton are also on their way to assist Oliver fire fighters.
Fire Information Officer, Kevin Skrepnek, says two attack crews with six fire fighters are heading to the scene.
Few details are available, however, the fire appears to have started at the side of the roadway. No cause has yet been determined.
Witnesses in the area say the fire produced plenty of smoke and it was burning into the trees just after 3 p.m.
