Calling all aspiring DJs!

The electronic music culture is thriving in the Okanagan. Yet fans of EDM (electronic dance music) probably don’t know how great we have it here.

We know there are a lot of local DJs who may just be the next Afrojack or Avicii, so why not show us what you’ve got?

How cool is it that we got Afrojack for the May Long Weekend and are getting Avicii on Canada Day? Avicii is set to spin a blistering hot set at the SOEC in Penticton on July 1st, and we want to make that experience even hotter for the local DJ who wins our contest. 

All you have to do is send us a YouTube video or mp3 of yourself performing a 30-minute DJ set. Use whatever music you like, incorporate any loops and effects you want to use… basically, anything goes.

Deadline for submissions is Sunday, June 10th. We're amazed by the amount of submissions we've already received, but you still have time. Don't miss out!

The winning DJ will get to take the stage at the Avicii concert. Playing on the same bill as Avicii is a pretty sweet deal!

Even if you don't win, you will still be eligible to be booked for a paid gig at an upcoming Festivals Kelowna event.

Submit your DJ sets to us at contests@castanet.net and our judges (who have many years of professional DJ experience) will narrow it down to 10. By the middle of June, we’ll post the Top 10 for our readers to vote on.

The Top 4 DJs get to square off in a special DJ show hosted by Sapphire Night Club on Thursday, June 28th.
