Vernon hit by sensless vandalism
May 14, 2012 / 12:34 pm
RCMP in Vernon responded to several vandalism complaints over the weekend.
According to RCMP Spokesperson Gord Molendyk, it appears that one or more persons caused damage to numerous vehicles around the city on Saturday evening.
"Three vehicles had their windows broken in the 3000 block of 29 Avenue, one in the 3300 block of 39 Avenue and then four at the parking of the hospital. In all cases it appears a rock was used in several cases items were stolen from the vehicle. "
Later on Saturday night, in the 6500 block of Longacre Drive, Molendyk says vandals did considerable damage to landscaping, planter boxes and a rock wall as well as lighting at the end of drive ways.
Theresa VanDyk says she was home at the time the vandalism occurred.
"Nobody heard a thing, and we were not the only home that had damage done," she said.
The police are asking anyone with any information about the vandalism and thefts to please contact them or call Crime Stoppers.
