Botched robbery leads to arrests

Vernon RCMP have two men in custody after a failed robbery attempt at a Chevron gas station Tuesday night.
An employee at the station told police a man attempted to rob him just before 9 p.m.
The suspect apparently demanded money, but when informed by the employee police had been called, the suspect ran off with an accomplice.
Vernon bylaw officers located the suspects a short time later in possession of a stolen truck out of Kamloops. He followed the truck to 27 Street and 35 Avenue where officers were able to stop the vehicle and arrest the the suspects.
One man was identified with the assistance of police in Kamloops while a video from the Chevron station showed one of the men holding a weapon during the robbery attempt.
They were charged with armed robbery and possession of stolen property.
The men, age 24 and 22 from Kamloops and Merritt respectively, were scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
Both men are known to police.
