Video: Head on hospitalizes two

Two people have been rushed to Kelowna General Hospital following a head on collision on Shannon Lake Road Friday morning.

The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m., at a curve near Shannon Lake Golf Club.

A Cadillac Fleetwood heading eastbound crossed the centre line and collided head on with a westbound Mercedes SUV.

A 43 year-old West Kelowna woman, one of two people in the SUV, was taken to hospital, as was the single occupant of the Cadillac, a 57 year-old West Kelowna man.

Both are reported to have non-life threatening injuries.

There was one casualty in the crash. A dog riding in the Cadillac died as a result of the impact, prompting police to remind pet owners to secure their animals while driving.

Two dogs in the SUV escaped with minor scrapes and bruises.

The man was ticketed under the Motor Vehicle Act for Speeding Relative to Conditions. Road conditions were slushy at the time of the crash.
