At large parolee found in Quesnel

A 33-year-old parolee, at large since he failed to show up at a Kelowna halfway house, is back in police custody.

Police issued a Canada-wide warrant for Aaron Craig Sutherland January 19 after he failed to report to his halfway house after being released from the Kent Institute near Aggasiz.

Sutherland was arrested without incident in Quesnel Friday.

He now faces an additional charge of being Unlawfully at Large.

Sutherland was convicted in December 2010 in Quesnel of Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Theft Over $5,000.

At the time the warrant was issued, RCMP said Sutherland had a history of assaults, property offences, fleeing police, drug offences, dangerous driving, failure to comply offences and one sexual assault conviction.

Quesnel RCMP would like to thank the general public for their assistance in providing  information which lead to Sutherland's arrest.
