A spike belt had to be deployed to stop two men from fleeing police near Vernon.
Just before 2:30 a.m., on January 28, RCMP attempted to stop a Green 1993 Mazda pickup at 30 Avenue and 27 Street, but the driver would not pull over.
RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says the truck drove through the red light and turned Northbound onto 27 Street where police followed the vehicle at a distance as it headed towards Armstrong.
"Our rural members set up a spike belt. The two occupants of the vehicle ran from the vehicle into the Royal York Golf course. Both suspects were tracked down and taken into custody. "
Both men were from Kamloops and are in their mid 20s. The passenger was found in possession of crack cocaine at time of the arrest and was intoxicated contrary to conditions of his probation.
They are expected to face charges of Flight from police /Dangerous Operation of Vehicle/Possession of drugs and breach of Probation.
Later in the day on January 28, at about 6:30 p.m. North Okanagan Traffic services were working in Enderby off of Highway 97 when they pulled over a blue Dodge pickup.
Molendyk says the pickup was towing a trailer carrying three sleds, but had no tail lights.
"Officers did a check of all three sleds and found one was confirmed stolen out of Lloydminster Alberta in 2010, another was reported stolen out of Vernon in 2009, but the third had to be checked on because it appears the VIN has been damaged."
All of the sleds were seized and the file remains under investigation.
The next day on January, 29 two more people tried to flee from police, but were unsuccessful.
About 2:40 a.m. Vernon RCMP were called to 34 Avenue and 30 Street after reports of a motor vehicle accident.
Molendyk says police arrived to find a Jeep Cherokee near 30 Avenue and a silver Chevy Cavalier about 30 feet away on the sidewalk near 34 Street.
"The occupants of the Jeep were still at the scene, but the driver and the passenger of the car had fled the area."
Officers were able to catch up with with the pair in the 3300 block of 31 Avenue. The 29-year-old driver of the Cavalier from Armstrong was arrested and is expected to be charged with Prohibited driving, impaired driving and refusal.
Molendyk says the officer who attended the incident would like to thank the witness who assisted the police and reported they saw the driver of the car run from the scene.
Everyone who was inside the Jeep were transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
