Crash closes Glenmore Jan.30
A three vehicle crash closed Glenmore Road near McKinley Road around 8 a.m. Monday morning.
Sgt. Ann Morrison says the investigation into the accident found the northbound SUV attempted to turn left onto McKinley Road, but the driver was unable to complete the turn and was struck by a blue Honda Civic that was headed southbound.
"The white SUV spun around and was struck by a third vehicle, a grey Honda Acura, that was also travelling southbound. The SUV stayed on the roadway after the crash. The Honda Civic went off road to the right and the Grey Acura went off road to the left."
The woman driver of the SUV and the women driver of the blue car were transported to KGH with minor injuries. The woman driver of the Acura was not injured.
Just half an hour before the incident on Glenmore emergency crews were called to a single vehicle crash on Longhill Road near Valley Road at about 7:30 a.m. The driver of a black Kia Spectra lost control of the vehicle and slid sideways into the ditch, says Morrison.
"The roads were icy at the time and a passerby was able to help the driver out of the vehicle."
The 38-year-old woman from Kelowna was not seriously injury.
Many people report black ice on streets around the Okanagan, with several accidents slowing the morning commute; RCMP are urging caution.
