Once touted as “Englands’ New Super Group”, the epitome of the Rock n’ Roll spirit, ‘Mott The Hoople’ have become more of a legend than the Rolling Stones!

The group formed in the late sixties and continued into the mid-seventies, blazing a trail that few could follow.  They broke ground on numerous fronts, from the way they toured, recorded and whom they recorded with.

Each member of the group grew in status, with Ian Hunter and Mick Ralphs perhaps becoming the best known.

Ian went on to create a stellar solo career, and Mick formed the legendary blues-rock group ‘Bad Company’ with Paul Rodgers.

Mott the Hoople were a working English class band: songs full of the hard life, politically incorrect lyrics, but telling it like it was.

Ian Hunter may go down in the journals of history as being one of the most prolific songwriters of the twentieth century.  Much has been written about the group, and its individual members.  In the case of Mr. Hunter, he is still recording, singing, and touring…a fantastic feat, since the dude is already in his seventies!

Mick Ralphs is also very active still, what with recording solo material and producing.

Last year the original members of Mott The Hoople got back together for a string of shows in England.  The dates were all sold out, and they were in fine form, bringing back the reasons they were in the forefront in their heyday.

A recent documentary has been released and is already sold out of its first pressing.

“The Ballad Of Mott The Hoople” is a comprehensive video documentation of this glorious ensemble of English minstrels.  From rare interview footage and performances dating back to the late sixties to the 2009 Hammersmith reunion shows, ”The Ballad Of Mott The Hoople” is a ‘must have’ for any serious Rocker…. a documentation of the times and the band that was spawned from those times
