Next week students around School District #23 will receive a unique cultural performance. The award winning Safety Theatre Production from Britain is coming to Kelowna. They will be touring various schools in the Kelowna area from Jan 30th - Feb 3rd. Their show "ESCape" is an enchanting fairytale that teaches the principles of internet safety to kids. The one-hour play is aimed at grades 5-7 and is accompanied with an interactive workshop.  Although the whole community can't attend the shows I wanted to share this event as it is a large topic that effects every family. The prevalence of social media, internet capable devices, and unfiltered information through the web is only on the rise so this topic is timely for any family.

I also wanted to share this infograph focused on parent-child interactions in Facebook. Although not connected directly to the show it does provide some interesting fodder for discussion.

Do you know your child's Facebook password?

Some other great events/opportunities worth checking out this weekend:

The Actors Studio just released their promo video for "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum". The show runs this weekend from Jan 19th - 22nd.

Want to volunteer in Uganda this summer here is your chance. Niteo, a local non-profit, is hosting an information session at the downtown Library this Sunday (Jan 22nd) at 2pm.
