I’ll tell you something right up front! I’ll bet that there will be a lot of red-faced A&R guys kicking about, if they let these four Irish lads slip through their fingers!

That is how I started the Review of Glyder’s debut album back in 2006.  A group that formed the Vanguard of the Hard Rock resurgence, along with contemporaries “The Answer”.  The group soared in 2006/07 gaining critical acclaim from all quarters of the rock world.

In 2008 Glyder released their second album, “Playground For Life”.  Already established as a no-nonsense straight up Rock quartet, Glyder cemented that reputation with this second effort.

Hitting the road, 2008/09 saw them touring with the likes of ‘Dio’, ‘Saxon’, and ‘Blue Oyster Cult’, culminating with their first headline tour in Spain and India!

Gathering steam throughout, the group readied themselves for their third release, with a new contract from SPV/Steamhammer, “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” was released in 2010.

Although the album found lots of new owners in Europe, especially in Germany the group was starting to struggle.  The music biz can be a hard road…and in the case of these four Irish lads, it certainly was.  External struggles and financial frustration reared its ugly head, leading to two members leaving the fold: Tony Cullen, the groups Bassist/Singer and Drummer Davy Ryan.

Although 2010 was a year of frustration, “Glyder” answered the New Year with a renewed commitment, and became a quintet in 2011.  Original founding members Bat Kinane and Pete Fisher completely re-vamped the band & welcomed Lead Vocalist Jackie Robinson and Graham McClatchie on Bass.  Des McEvoy filled the vacant Drummer’s seat.

Not losing faith, SPV/Steamhammer continued to support the group, and waited for the newly reformed band to spin that magic again.  They did!Recording their latest album, “Backroads To Byzantium”, released in the dying months of last year, the group is starting to enjoy another resurgence!

2012 will see the group tour throughout their home, the UK and Europe.

The fourth release is already garnering the group accolades from critics all over the world…….“Irish rockets Glyder have totally revamped their line-up, and in the process given their bluesy melodic rock approach a real shot in the arm. Backroads To Byzantium (SPV/Steamhammer) is possibly the band’s best album yet. The songs have a vigour and the musicianship an edge that really does convince you of Glyder’s worth.”
