West Kelowna windstorm

West Kelowna residents battled a windstorm, Sunday morning.

Steve Gray, who lives in the Smith Creek area, had his trampoline blow across his yard and into his home. Gray sent Castanet a video of debris scattered about his patio, after strong winds also tossed around his heating lamp and deck chairs.

Fire crews were reportedly called to Lakeridge Road after a tree fell across power lines around 9:30 a.m.

In the Glenrosa area, winds managed to snap a large tree in half and fling it onto Webber Road. Neighbours came to the rescue with chainsaws to chop up the tree and clear the way.

Danielle Bulley woke up to find the family basketball hoop had fallen onto her car, smashing out the rear window. She says her driveway, at her home in the Gellatly area, is a mess with broken glass.

Environment Canada is calling for 30 kilometre an hour winds Sunday afternoon, turning to a light wind in the evening.
