Former porn star enrages parents

Parents have been filing complaints left, right and center with the Parent-Teacher Association because an ex-porn star decided to do a good thing: read to children in an LA County elementary school!

Sasha Grey, a 23-year-old former adult film star who has been breaking into the mainstream lately with guest spots on shows such as ‘Entourage’ as well as 2009’s well received film ‘the Girlfriend Experience’, was a guest in early November at the Compton Emerson Elementary School for a program called Read Across America Day. Grey had Tweeted on November 2nd that she spent the day reading to students in the first and third grades and quite enjoyed it.

Parents are questioning whether or not it was appropriate for Grey to be at the school and why the school couldn’t find someone more “suitable” such as a police officer. Grey hasn’t starred in an adult film in over two years as she has taken herself out of the scene and has been having some great success.

In a recent statement Grey said, “Read Across America is a program that was designed to promote literacy and instill a lifelong love of reading in elementary school students. Promoting education is an effort that is close to my heart. Illiteracy contributes to poverty. Encouraging children to pick up a book is fundamental! I am committed to this program with the understanding that people would have their own opinions about what I have done, who I am and what I represent.” She continued, “I am an actor. I am an artist. I am a daughter. I am a sister. I am a partner. I have a past that some people may not agree with, but it does not define who I am! I will not live in fear of it. To challenge non-profit education programs is an exercise in futility, counter-productive and anti-educational.” Hear, hear, Sista!

I guess the question is: should someone’s past override their future? I’m sure she didn’t walk into the class and say that her expertise was in adult films (I couldn’t even imagine THAT discussion with a bunch of first graders!), she stated that her profession was acting, which it is! Former drug addicts and thieves turn their lives around and become motivational speakers and consultants to schools; shouldn’t a former porn star be forgiven for her unconventional past?

Robert Pattinson took some good aim the other night at Late Night host Jimmy Fallon during a battle of archery! If you watch the clip, the two are covered in what looks to be a plastic contraption with a point breakdown on it; 10 points for the face, 5 points if you hit somewhere in the middle and 20 points if you hit the unmentionables! Pattinson scored 20 points on his third try!

Brad Pitt Threatens to Quit Acting

Brad Pitt recently told Australia’s ’60 Minutes’ in an interview that he is planning on leaving his high profile movie career within the next three years… which will be at the ripe ol’ age of 50! Pitt would like to step out of the limelight and be more behind the scenes. "I am really enjoying the producing side and development of stories and putting those pieces together," Pitt said. "Getting stories to the plate that might have had a tougher time otherwise."

Pitt also mentioned that there might be more Pitt-Jolie offspring in his near future. "You know, I don't know that we're finished”. Currently the couple has six children and Pitt says that he enjoys the chaos that it brings, “those late nights are so fun when one of them's up or those mornings when they get up and make pancakes or something. That's what it's about."
