UPDATE: Mantler accuser found

Update: Manjeet Singh Bhatti has turned himself in.

Cst. Steve Holmes says Bhatti was wanted in connection to trafficking in a Controlled Substance but turned himself in at the Kelowna Detachment at just before noon on Wednesday.

Kyle Joseph Lezard was also arrested in relation to the RCMP drug sweep of downtown Kelowna.

Holmes says Lezard is not longer being sought on the warrant.

Manjeet Singh Bhatti is a wanted man.

Bahtti, who accused suspended RCMP officer Geoff Mantler with assault over an incident in August of 2010, is wanted on an outstanding drug warrant.

He's one of seven people RCMP are looking for following their latest downtown drug sweep.

The drug sweep, conducted in late September, resulted in 41 trafficking charges against 21 downtown drug dealers.

Const. Steve Holmes says all are known to police for Drug/Criminal Code related offences.

Holmes says undercover officers made 40 cocaine and one heroin buy from 13 males and eight females.

"Two of the buys were from two 17-year-olds, the youngest of the group," says Holmes.

"The oldest dealer was 44 years of age. One of the dealers is from Vernon. The rest are local."

Holmes says many arrests were made on sight, however, warrants were obtained for the rest.

Police have arrested all but seven. Those still on the loose include:

  • Justin Morgan Sheena
  • Kyle Joseph Lezard
  • Darren Campbell Jamieson
  • Griffin Anthony Gagnon
  • Manjeet Singh Bhatti
  • Michael Patrick Gardiner
  • Lisa Crowther

The assault trial involving Bhatti and Mantler is scheduled for July, 2012.
