"There are no fires," says Kayla Pepper, Provincial Fire Information Officer. 

Castanet had reports of two small fires near Vaseux, but Pepper says she has not heard of any fires in the region.

Our e-mail tips line, [email protected], was also filling up with many people asking about why there is so much smoke in the valley.

Some were wondering why there were so many helicopters in the air, but so far the ministry is unaware of any forest fires.

The information officer said it could be blowing in from controlled burns or Alberta.
