It was described as a serious breach of trust.

Daron Mark Crown, a former youth pastor at First Baptist Church in Salmon Arm pleaded guilty to two sexual offenses involving a 15-year-old member of the congregation.

Crown's wife was reportedly pregnant when the relationship with the minor began in February 2010.

According to a report by the Salmon Arm Observer, the victim thought Crown was in love with her, despite his being married.

Prosecutor Bill Hilderman says the situation was a serious breach of trust between a person in a position of authority and a young person.

Crown was handed a conditional nine-month sentence, followed by a year of probation.

He will also be registered on the sex offender database for 10 years and must provide a DNA sample.

No one from First Baptist Church was available for comment.
