Video: another Tavares rally in the works

Report by Kelly Hayes

Buddy Tavares' name came up in Kelowna court again, this time dealing with a firearms charge.

Tavares was charged with careless use of a firearm following his videotaped arrest January 7 when he was kicked in the face by Constable Geoff Mantler.

Tavares wasn't in court Monday but his lawyer said that the Crown is still reviewing the case and deciding whether the charge should proceed, suggesting there's a chance it may be dropped.

Meantime, another protest is planned for Kelowna. The people behind the Facebook page dedicated to the Tavares incident are organizing another rally. It's happening Sunday February 20 at the downtown Sails on Bernard.
