RCMP are seeking public assistance on the crash that occurred Tuesday on Highway 97 and Commonwealth at around 2:30 p.m.
Investigators are trying to piece together events leading up to the crash and any assistance from the motoring public would be greatly appreciated.
Sergeant Ann Morrison says investigation has revealed that a Toyota 4 Runner was traveling northbound, collided with a Suzuki car that was turning left off Commonwealth.
“The SUV deflected and collided with a courier van that had been stopped waiting to turn right onto Commonwealth and another SUV (KIA) that was stopped at a red light on Highway 97,” says Morrison.
She says police have received inconsistent information and are looking for specifics as to what phase the intersection lights were in for northbound and southbound traffic on Highway 97 at Commonwealth Road at the time of the collision and confirmation from any independent witnesses as to which lane the northbound red Toyota 4 Runner was in at the time of the collision.
“There was significant damage to the 4 Runner and the car and minor damage to two others.”
Morrison says the adult female passenger of the 4-runner and the driver of the car were both taken to Kelowna General Hospital for minor injuries.
“The 4 Runner is from California, other vehicle and drivers are from Kelowna. All drivers and passenger are adults.”
Police are asking anyone with information to please call the Central Okanagan Traffic Services at (250)980-5353.
