Kelowna RCMP are looking for public assistance in identifying a speeding boater on Lake Okanagan.
On Tuesday between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m., the RCMP member working on the police boat encountered a boat speeding by them as they were searching for a missing boater in the Bertram Creek area.
The police officer activated the emergency equipment on the boat and proceeded to follow the speeding boat.
The officer was unable to catch up to the boater and believes that the operator was evading him.
Cst. Williams says that the boat was going very fast, too fast for our water and fears that someone is going to get hurt or die as a result of the driver's behavior.
The boat is described as a white cigarette boat with blue stripes. It's about 30 feet in length.
Police are asking boaters to be wise on the water and restate that it's no fun when someone doesn't return home after a day on the lake.
