A small wildfire in the Glenmore Valley area never had a chance to grow.
The Kelowna Fire Department responded to the scene of what was believed to be an unattended campfire just before 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Assistant fire chief Lou Wilde says the wildfire was off the end of Yates Road in the Glenmore Valley.
“Seven firefighters were on scene of the 10' x 10' fire that appears to be human caused. KFD would like to remind the public to take caution in the wildland areas and not to smoke while in the wooded areas,” says Wilde.
He says the BC Forest Service is rating the local fire hazard at “Extreme” and remind residents and visitors to the area that the Central Okanagan Regional District has imposed a campfire ban until further notice.
