PENTICTON INDIAN BAND ADDITION TO RESERVE
The Regional District will be forwarding a letter to advise Indian and Northern Affairs Canada that the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is concerned with the addition of the Kettle Valley Railway lands to the Penticton Indian Band Reserve for the purposes presented in the Penticton Indian Band‟s application. The Regional District supports the Kettle Valley Railway lands as a valuable part of the Trans Canada Trail and several of the proposed near-term uses of the lots in the proposal – specifically, residential, commercial and industrial uses are not supported by residents of the RDOS. The Regional District also has concerns with respect to the existing infrastructure encroachments and utility corridors being maintained and respected. The Regional District Board will be forwarding a letter to the Penticton Indian Band requesting an opportunity to discuss developing a partnership arrangement in respect to the Kettle Valley Railway right of way lands that affect both jurisdictions.
