After a two month closure for construction, the Parkinson Rec Centre pool will re-open Saturday, February 6.

A free family swim will be held on opening day between 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

On November 30, 2009, the aquatic facilities were closed for annual maintenance and to install new deck tile.

Aquatic facilities at the Parkinson Recreation Centre include the main pool, children’s play pool, whirlpool and steam room.

The Fitness Centre, gymnasium and other non-aquatics programs were not impacted by the construction.

The pool was scheduled to re-open February 1, however, a delay in equipment delivery pushed that date back five days.

“The new tile looks great,” says Recreation and Culture Manager Lori Angus.

“The pool has now been filled and will be warm and ready for everyone to check out this Saturday.”

Space is still available in some aquatics programs. Program and registration information is available online.
