A West Kelowna band has beat out stiff competition to come up with a fistful of cash.
We Are The City took The PEAK Performance Project's top prize Friday night, beating out Langley's The Left Finish and Vancouver's Bend Sinister.
We Are The City walks away with $150,000 to put towards career development.
The PEAK Performance Project is a seven-year, $5.29 million program open to all musicians in British Columbia. The project was created by 100.5 The PEAK and Music B.C. to enhance the music industry in BC and assist emerging artists.
This year, the 19 finalists from B.C. received an intensive, one week training program in the music business, including instruction on live performance, songwriting, marketing and promotion. The artists benefited from mentorships from some of the music industry's top professionals and performers and all of these artists performed live in Vancouver on the PEAK Performance Stage during The PEAK Performance Concert Series.
