The Apple Bowl, located in the Parkinson Recreation Park, is now closed for facility upgrades. The Apple Bowl will reopen in the spring, based on weather and progress of construction.

Improvements include curb drainage replacement on the track and relocation of the high jump facility away from the field.

In August, the City of Kelowna was awarded $1 million through the Recreation Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, to upgrade four of Kelowna’s recreational facilities. The City of Kelowna will contribute an additional $2.5 million to complete these projects.

In addition to the Apple Bowl upgrades, Elks Stadium, Kings Stadium and Rutland Arena will also receive improvements under the RInC program. All upgrades are expected to be complete by July 2010.
